All-New Broadcast Features Never-Before-Reported Evidence and Exclusive Interviews with Key Figures in Case

OCTOBER  8, 2025 – This Friday at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, Dateline NBC will air an all-new two-hour broadcast on the murder of Cliff Lambert, a retired art collector and legendary Palm Springs socialite. Reported by Josh Mankiewicz, the broadcast includes exclusive interviews and new details on how a group of four conspirators, including a self-proclaimed Nepalese prince, defrauded and killed Lambert.

During the broadcast, Mankiewicz speaks exclusively to a victim of Danny Garcia’s, one of the men convicted for the murder of Lambert. Tyson Wrensch tells Dateline that Garcia stole his identity and drained his bank accounts but a detective dismissed his allegations, telling him that “until someone gets hurt” he didn’t have the ability to do anything about it. Lambert was killed the next year.

The Prince, The Whiz Kid & The Millionaire also features exclusive interviews with key players in the case, including a 1990s adult film star and friend of Cliff Lambert’s, prosecutor Lisa DiMaria, Garcia’s cousin and more. Friday’s broadcast is the culmination of years of reporting and comes just months after Garcia and two other men were convicted and sentenced to life without parole. The case remains one of the longest and most expensive missing-persons investigations in California history.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ VOICEOVER: APPARENTLY, WHILE POSING AS TYSON, DANNY HAD ACQUIRED ALL NEW ATM CARDS AND THEN USED THOSE TO DRAIN TYSON’S ACCOUNTS.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: And you’re feeling what at this time? Anger? Betrayal? Or –

TYSON WRENSCH: All of the above —

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: “I should of known better?”

TYSON WRENSCH: All of the above. All of those little things that should have triggered a flag, all of a sudden, “Oh yeah–“

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: Danny, your pal. Danny, the victim. Danny, who’s so charming. Danny, who loves to live large.

TYSON WRENSCH: Danny the sociopath. Danny the conman. Danny the liar.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ VOICEOVER: THE BANK’S INSURANCE COVERED TYSON’S FINANCIAL LOSSES. BUT TYSON SAYS AFTER SEEING SECURITY CAMERA PHOTOS OF DANNY WITHDRAWING MONEY FROM HIS ACCOUNT, TYSON  WANTED TO SEE HIS NOW EX-BEST FRIEND PUNISHED. BUT HE SAYS THE DETECTIVE ASSIGNED TO THE CASEBLEW HIM OFF.

TYSON WRENSCH: He says, “Look, Tyson. Until someone gets hurt, we’re really just not gonna have the ability to do anything about it.”

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: ”Until someone gets hurt”?

TYSON WRENSCH: “Until someone gets hurt.”

JOSH MANKIEWICZ You know, it’s interesting, like, the cops are willing to let this drop. The bank’s willing to let it drop. You’ve got your money back. But you won’t let it drop.

TYSON WRENSCH: I’m pissed.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: Because you were taken advantage of?

TYSON WRENSCH: And betrayed. And now, I had nothing but time and money. And I was gonna go get him.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ VOICEOVER: THE LAMBERT CASE INVOLVED SO MANY SCHEMES, CONS, GRIFTS, LIES AND BETRAYALS THAT AS SHE PREPARED FOR TRIAL, PROSECUTOR LISA DIMARIA HAD TROUBLE FIGURING OUT WHICH CHARACTERS AND CRIMES FACTORED INTO CLIFF LAMBERT’S MURDER AND WHICH DID NOT.

LISA DIMARIA: It was, like, Alice in Wonderland, falling into a rabbit hole. It took months of me eating, living, sleeping, breathing this case to sort it all out. My life was this case.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ VOICEOVER: THAT VERY LINE COULD ALSO HAVE BEEN UTTERED BY DANNY AND KAUSHAL –WHO WERE REPRESENTING THEMSELVES AND RELENTLESSLY BOMBARDING THE COURT WITH ONE PRE-TRIAL MOTION AFTER ANOTHER.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: Danny Garcia and Kaushal Niroula decided to represent themselves. Why’d they do that?

LISA DIMARIA: They represented themselves after they went through nine different tax-paid-for attorneys from the county. We went to court on this case 128 times before we ever went to trial, in a period of two years.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: And why was that?

LISA DIMARIA: Because the Defendants are con artists. And they conned the court.

JOSH MANKIEWICZ: Because time’s on their side, not on your side. That’s their thinking?

LISA DIMARIA: I have no idea what their thinking was.
