Jan. 17, 2024 — Meet the Press with Kristen Welker (MTP) was the #1 Sunday public affairs show in the key demo this past Sunday, Jan. 14, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. MTP has outperformed ABC’s This Week in the key demo for eight of the last nine normally rated weeks.
On digital, MTP saw over three million video views across platforms, a 20% increase over last week.
#1 in the Key Demo this Past Sunday
MTP ranked #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers this past Sunday, averaging 529,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo and leading ABC’s This Week by +4,000 (+1%) and CBS’s Face the Nation by +112,000 (+27%).
MTP has outperformed ABC in the key demo for eight of the last nine normally rated Sundays and leads ABC in season-to-date A25-54 ratings.
MTP posted its largest A25-54 audience in nearly a year and reached its highest total viewership in five weeks. It was the only Sunday public affairs program among the three largest broadcast networks to increase is viewership across the board over the prior week.
Sunday’s special edition broadcast was live from Des Moines, Iowa, ahead of Monday’s Iowa caucus and featured exclusive interviews with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) as well as pre-caucus analysis from chief political analyst Chuck Todd and national political correspondent Steve Kornacki. The broadcast averaged 2.654 million total viewers, leading ABC by +168,000 (+7%).
Posts Over 3M Views on Digital
MTP saw over three million video views across platforms last week, posting a 20% week-over-week gain and a 97% increase over last year. Viewers consumed 189,000 hours of MTP content last week and 172,000 viewers watched the full Sunday broadcast on YouTube.
#1 in the Nation’s Capital for Over 8 Years
MTP ranked #1 across the board in the influential Washington, D.C. market on Sunday, beating the competition combined in the key demo and in total viewers. The win continues an eight-year streak in which MTP has not lost a Sunday in the nation’s capital for over eight years.
