Premieres During NBC News’ Network-Wide Series on Renewed Efforts to Find Missing Americans
July 19, 2022 – Dateline NBC will debut an all-new podcast investigating six different disappearances, with original reporting from correspondents Josh Mankiewicz and Andrea Canning. Launching Tuesday, July 26, each episode of Dateline: Missing in America will focus on one person’s story, as told by family, friends and investigators. The series will also provide opportunities for listeners to share information that may help authorities solve the case.
The six-episode podcast is an extension of Dateline’s eponymous online series, which features stories each week of missing people from across the country. Since the series began eight years ago, Dateline has reported on over 400 disappearances, brought to Dateline’s attention by social media followers.
The first two episodes of Dateline: Missing in America will be available for download and streaming on any podcast platform on July 26, with the following four episodes debuting over the next four weeks.

Dateline: Missing in America is the 9th podcast from Dateline, following the #1 series The Thing About Pam, Motive for Murder, The Seduction, The Thing About Helen & Olga and Mommy Doomsday. Additionally, Dateline’s showcast recently marked its strongest quarter ever, with more than 82 million downloads in 2Q22.
The podcast will premiere during NBC News’ week-long series Missing in America, which will feature in-depth coverage on the renewed efforts across the country to bring closure to families of those who have vanished. Reports will air across TODAY, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, NBC News NOW, NBCNews.com and MSNBC.
