TODAY Table Features Hundreds of Start-to-Finish Shoppable Recipes
‘TODAY Food Presents: TODAY Table’ Streaming Series To Include Shoppable Recipes on TODAY All Day in March
January 24, 2021 – NBC’s TODAY, the most trusted morning news show on TV, with sponsor Walmart, the No. 1 U.S. retailer and world’s largest grocer, has launched a shoppable recipe and commerce destination — TODAY Table — giving viewers across broadcast, digital and streaming a high-quality, start-to-finish mealtime experience. Beginning today, users can access TODAY Table’s shoppable recipes at TODAY.com/Food, all made with ingredients that people can easily purchase from Walmart, which will quickly expand to include shoppable recipes and corresponding food segments on TODAY’s broadcast and in a series created for TODAY All Day, the lifestyle brand’s 24/7 streaming network.
With a mission to find solutions and create convenience, TODAY and Walmart have created an experience with a custom series of videos and recipe content that helps busy families plan and prepare meals faster and more easily. This commerce offering gives consumers an easier way to manage mealtime by leveraging the expertise and reach of the TODAY brand, as well as the omnichannel presence and convenient shopping experience and delivery options that Walmart has to offer.
Through this new shoppable meal content, customers can plan and add recipe ingredients directly to their Walmart online grocery cart for convenient pickup or delivery.
Available at TODAY.com/Food, TODAY Table includes a curated list of hundreds of shoppable recipes created by TODAY that are shoppable exclusively at Walmart, and regular TODAY broadcast segments featuring those recipes will be shoppable via QR codes on screen.
Customers can find new weekly recipes that tap into seasonal trends and lifestyle moments, that help busy families more quickly discover, plan, prepare and enjoy delicious meals together. The robust list of recipes ranges from healthy spins on favorite takeout dishes to low-carb, low-calories, one-pot meals, to popular viral recipes that everyone will love, and more.
Beginning in March, TODAY will also feature many of those recipes in a custom digital series — TODAY Food Presents: TODAY Table — streaming on TODAY All Day. TODAY Food’s chefs will cook up some of their favorite recipes that the entire family will enjoy.
“Making our recipes shoppable is the next natural step in our efforts to add additional layers of utility and service for our TODAY audience through commerce programming and within a lifestyle pillar that TODAY is known to be a leader in,” said Ashley Parrish, SVP of commerce for NBCU News Group. “We hope this new functionality allows our audience to spend less time preparing meals and more time enjoying them.”
Since launching its commerce program in late 2017, NBCU News Group Commerce has seen significant growth. In addition to these shoppable recipes, NBC News and CNBC offer Select (a commerce destination, giving readers high-quality expertly-sourced product and service recommendations to help audiences upgrade their lives) and TODAY has greatly expanded its Shop TODAY franchise (which offers readers an easy way to find and purchase products featured on the broadcast, a dedicated Steals & Deals section of TODAY.com, dozens of gift guides for every occasion, as well as shoppable fashion, beauty and wellness content and more). Plus, TODAY All Day, the morning show’s streaming lifestyle network, hosts weekly shoppable streaming content: Shop All Day – the new weekly shoppable series streaming Thursdays – brings viewers must-have finds and the hottest items to make their lives easier; and Shop TODAY with Jill Martin – the new monthly shop-while-you-watch streaming show – helps viewers find product solutions to everyday problems and an easy-to-purchase shopping experience. NBC News makes a commission on commerce purchases made through its websites.
