Pressed by ‘Dateline,’ Peterson Maintains Innocence: ‘Everyone’s Twisting It to Make Me Look Bad’

‘Infamous’ Airs Friday at 9pm ET/8pm CT

November 17, 2021 –  Convicted murderer Drew Peterson will speak out in his first network TV interview in over a decade to Dateline NBC this Friday at 9pm ET/8pm CT about the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio, and the disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy Peterson.

When challenged by Dateline as to why he blames everyone but himself for his conviction for the murder of Kathleen, Peterson responded, “Everybody’s twisting it to make me look bad, okay? They’re twisting it to make their prosecution or what they’re trying to say against me work.” Peterson, who continues to maintain his innocence, tells Dateline he was a “loving husband.” To see the exchange, click here. The transcript is below.

During the two-hour special, Dateline correspondent Natalie Morales also speaks with Stacy Peterson’s sister Cassandra, who continues to search for Stacy since she disappeared in 2007. Cassandra tells Dateline, “You don’t realize the love that I lost… I will find her. And I’ll bring her home. And that’s my promise.” To see the exchange, click here. Drew Peterson has never been charged in relation to Stacy’s disappearance but remains the prime suspect.

Additionally, the broadcast, entitled Infamous, will feature Drew Peterson’s brother breaking his silence for the first time. Morales also speaks with key players in the case, including Kathleen’s sister Sue Doman and Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow. Peterson was also convicted for solicitation for murder after attempting to hire a hitman to kill Glasgow.

Drew Peterson speaks to ‘Dateline’ in first network TV interview in over ten years.

Exchange Transcript

NATALIE MORALES:  At the end of the day, you’re saying then, everybody else is lying. Everybody else is making up facts, the jury didn’t do their job. It seems everybody else but you is to blame here, Drew.

DREW PETERSON: The prosecution is making up facts. The prosecution staged a prosecution with Kathy. They took an accident and staged a prosecution. Everybody’s twisting it to make me look bad, okay? They’re twisting it to make their prosecution or what they’re trying to say against me work.

NATALIE MORALES VOICE OVER: PETERSON CONTINUES TO DENY HE EVER ABUSED HIS TWO WIVES.

NATALIE MORALES: You weren’t a controlling husband? You weren’t threatening? You weren’t abusive to both Kathleen and Stacy?

DREW PETERSON: Correct.

NATALIE MORALES: What kind of husband were you?

DREW PETERSON:  I was a loving husband, okay? I was, what can I say? I was a good husband, a good provider.

NATALIE MORALES:  If you were such a good husband and such a good provider, in interviews that we did with you, you talked about Kathleen having mood swings. Stacy, you said, had mood swings that were tied to her menstrual cycle.

DREW PETERSON: Yes.

NATALIE MORALES: How about the way you talk about women? How do you justify talking about – these are the mothers of your children, the way you did?

DREW PETERSON: Right.

NATALIE MORALES: You don’t see anything wrong with that?

DREW PETERSON: Everybody complains about their wives.
