Reaches More Than 6 Million Video Views Across Digital Platforms for Third Quarter

Sept. 21, 2021 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the all-important key demo for the 2020-2021 season and the third quarter of 2021 (3Q’21), according to Nielsen Media Research.

#1 in Key Demo for Sixth Straight Season; Tops Competition by Double-Digits

For the sixth straight season, MTP outpaced all other Sunday morning public affairs programs in the demo most valued by news advertisers.

An average of 698,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into the broadcast during the 2020-2021 broadcast season (Sept. 21, 2020-Sept. 19, 2021), topping ABC and CBS by double-digits: +10 percent (+62,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +13 percent (+79,000) more than CBS’s Face the Nation.

MTP averaged 478,000 A18-49 viewers, topping ABC by 13 percent (+53,000) and CBS +15 percent (+62,000).

An average of 3.230 million total viewers tuned into MTP, topping ABC in total viewers for the sixth straight season: seven percent (+215,000) more than ABC.

#1 in Key Demo for Third Quarter of 2021; Outperforms Competition by Double-Digits

MTP continues to dominate in the demo most valued by news advertisers, winning 22 out of the last 23 quarters among A25-54 viewers. The network broadcast also topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits in the key demo. 

619,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into MTP, outperforming ABC’s This Week by +11 percent (+63,000) and CBS’ Face the Nation by +26 percent (+129,000). Compared to last quarter (2Q’21), MTP grew the most and was up +16 percent (+87,000). MTP’s demo advantage over CBS improved seven-fold (+129,000 vs. +18,000 in 2Q’21).

MTP averaged 432,000 A18-49 viewers, leading ABC by +16 percent (+61,000) and CBS by +42 percent (+128,000). Compared to last quarter (2Q’21), MTP grew the most and was up +19 percent (+68,000) and increased its lead over CBS by more than five times (+128,000 vs. +25,000 in 2Q’21). Compared to the same quarter last year (3Q’20), MTP improved its A18-49 lead over ABC by +77 percent (+61,000 vs. +34,000 in 3Q’20) while nearly tripling its lead over CBS (+128,000 vs. +43,000 in 3Q’20).

MTP averaged 2.671 million total viewers for the third quarter of 2021, topping ABC by three percent (+71,000). Compared to last quarter (2Q’21), MTP grew the most and was up two percent (+45,000), and more than tripled its total viewer lead over ABC (+71,000 vs. +19,000 in 2Q’21).

Sunday’s broadcast averaged 2.497 million total viewers and 547,000 A25-54 viewers and featured interviews with Dr. Anthony Fauci and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.). 

Reaches More Than 6 Million Video Views Across Digital for Third Quarter

For the third quarter of 2021, MTP’s full episodes and clips delivered more than six million video views across digital platforms. On YouTube, the average MTP full episode reached more than 832,000 views and 665,000 viewers.

Last week, MTP reached more than 1.2 million video views and 169,000 hours viewed across digital platforms. This past Sunday’s full episode has currently reached more than 277,000 views and 212,000 viewers. And, the full episode that aired last Sunday, Sept. 12 delivered 311,000 views on YouTube and 238,000 viewers.

77 Months as #1 Most Watched Sunday Show in Washington, D.C. 

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming the competition combined across the board and winning in total viewers for 77 straight months.
