NEW YORK – September 14, 2021 – TODAY was the number-one morning show outright last week, topping “Good Morning America” in total viewers and the key demo for the second week in a row. The win marks TODAY’s fourth total viewer victory in the last seven weeks. TODAY has now won 310 out of 315 weeks in A25-54.
Additionally, TODAY grew its demo lead over GMA versus the prior week and the same week last year and was the only morning show to grow in total viewers versus this time last year. For six straight years TODAY has been the number-one morning show in the key demo at this point in the season.
TODAY HIGHLIGHTS:
TODAY averaged 3.256 million total viewers, +5,000 (+0.1%) more than GMA and +795,000 (+32%) higher than CBS
- TODAY was the #1 morning show for the second week in a row
- TODAY outperformed GMA in total viewers on both Tuesday (+128,000) and Friday (+268,000). Excluding the Tokyo Olympics, Friday’s advantage was TODAY’s biggest single-day win over GMA since Monday, 12/2/2019.
- Compared to the same week last season, TODAY increased its total viewer delivery by +18,000 (+1%) and improved its lead over CBS by 40% (+795,000 vs. +567,000 prior year).
TODAY averaged 952,000 A25-54 viewers, leading GMA by +107,000 (+13%) and CBS Mornings by +435,000 (+84%)
