#1 in Key Demo for Ninth Consecutive Month
Tops Competition by Double Digits this Past Sunday and for April
Only Sunday Show to Deliver More Than 1 Million A25-54 Viewers for Second Straight Month and this Past Sunday
April 28, 2020 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, April 26, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, Gov. Phil Murphy (D-N.J.), Former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams and Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota Dr. Michael Osterholm.
MTP averaged 4.420 million total viewers: +38 percent (+1.214 million) more than ABC’s This Week and nine percent (+378,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This was MTP’s best total viewer advantage over ABC in over seven years (since December 3, 2012). MTP was the only Sunday show to grow week over week and was up nine percent (+354,000). Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +38 percent (+1.206 million).
MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver more than one million A25-54 demo viewers. 1.055 million A25-54 key demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +48 percent (+340,000) more than ABC and +23 percent (+197,000) more than CBS. This was MTP’s best advantage over ABC in six weeks and over CBS in four weeks. Compared to last Sunday, MTP was up +18 percent (+162,000) and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +38 percent (+289,000).
April marks MTP’s ninth consecutive monthly win in the key demo. MTP was the only Sunday program to average over one million A25-54 demo viewers for the second consecutive month. MTP averaged 1.057 million A25-54 viewers in April, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +25 percent (+209,000) more than ABC and +12 percent (+110,000) more than CBS. Compared to last April, MTP was up +32 percent (+258,000).
An average of 4.292 million total viewers tuned into MTP in April: +17 percent (+627,000) more than ABC. Just three percent separated MTP from CBS. This was MTP’s best total viewer monthly win over ABC in 12 months (since April 2019) and best total viewer delivery since January 2009.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board.
An additional 235,000 total viewers and 82,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through a rebroadcast on NBC.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, beating the competition combined across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers in over five years (since March 22, 2015).
