#1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND KEY DEMO FOR MONTH OF DECEMBER; FIFTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH ON TOP

DECEMBER 31, 2019 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for 2019, the fourth quarter of 2019 (4Q’19) and the month of December, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

MTP was #1 across the board for the fourth quarter of 2019, winning all four quarters of the calendar year across the board. This marks the show’s eighth straight quarter as the #1 most-watched Sunday show.

Averaging 3.211 million total viewers, MTP beat ABC’s This Week by +17 percent (+476,000) and CBS’ Face the Nation by +6 percent (+195,000).

In the demo most valued by news advertisers, MTP averaged 737,000 A25-54 viewers: +16 percent (+101,000) more than both ABC and CBS. This is MTP’s 16th consecutive quarter win in the key demo. 

DECEMBER 

MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of December.

This marks MTP’s fifth consecutive monthly win across the board. An average of 3.051 million total viewers tuned into MTP in December: +15 percent (+405,000) more than ABC and +1 percent (+32,000) more than CBS. 

MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers in December. 671,000 A25-54 viewers tuned in for the month: +14 percent (+81,000) more than ABC and +7 percent (+44,000) more than CBS. This marks MTP’s fifth consecutive monthly win in the key demo in addition to 45 of the last 47 months.

2019

MTP won across-the-board for the second consecutive year outpacing all other Sunday morning public affairs programs in A25-54, A18-49 and total viewers. This year marked five years with Chuck Todd at helm of Meet the Press and saw the launch of the NBC News’ year-long “County to County” project highlighting five pivotal counties in the upcoming 2020 election. 

MTP won in total viewers for the second year in a row, topping the competition for all four quarters this year.

MTP topped ABC and CBS in A25-54 by double digits for the fourth straight year.

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its best total viewer lead over ABC in eight years and CBS in nine years. 

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition combined among A25-54 key demo viewers and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than four straight years (since March 22, 2015).

This past Sunday featured a special edition of Meet the Press focusing on the weaponization of disinformation with interviews with Dean Baquet and Martin Baron, Clint Watts, Masha Gessen, and Michael McFaul. MTP was retitled this past Sunday, December 29.
