NBC News’ Lester Holt Will Lead Network Coverage and Anchor Special Editions of ‘NBC Nightly News’ Live from London and Normandy
Holt and Tom Brokaw to Join ‘TODAY’ on Thursday, June 6
May 31, 2019 – NBC News and MSNBC together will broadcast special week-long coverage, beginning June 3, on the 75th anniversary of D-Day from Normandy and President Donald Trump’s first official state visit to the United Kingdom. Lester Holt will lead the broadcast coverage and anchor special editions of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt live from London on Tuesday, June 4 and from Normandy on Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6 for “D-Day at 75: A Celebration of Heroes.”
UNITED KINGDOM COVERAGE
Savannah Guthrie, TODAY co-host and chief legal correspondent, will kick off special coverage from New York on Monday, June 3 reporting on President Trump’s arrival at Buckingham Palace. The following day, Holt will anchor President Trump’s and British Prime Minister Theresa May’s joint press conference and a special edition of NBC Nightly News from London that evening.

NORMANDY COVERAGE
Holt will anchor a commemorative D-Day event from the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial on Thursday, June 6. That morning, Tom Brokaw, senior correspondent, will join Holt on TODAY from the region. Additionally, Andrea Mitchell, chief foreign affairs correspondent, will anchor MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports and report from Normandy on Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough will anchor Morning Joe from there and MSNBC Live with Hallie Jackson will also broadcast from the region. Neely will provide on-the-ground coverage.
Holt will anchor two special editions of NBC Nightly News from Normandy on Wednesday and Thursday, featuring interviews with D-Day veterans, as well as interviews with students from Chapel Hill, N.C. who raised money to send WWII vets back to Normandy for the anniversary. Additionally, Holt will visit Airborne Museum in Sainte Marie Egilse, the town that was liberated 75 years ago, and will present a special piece on the legacy of the Greatest Generation.
NBC News NOW will stream all NBC News special reports on web, mobile app, OTT platforms, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Reporter Brinley Bruton will also cover the events on the ground for NBC News Digital from London and Normandy.
