#1 in Key Demo and A18-49 ratings for 15 Straight Sweep Period
Broadcast Grows Across the Board Since November Sweep
NEW YORK (March 1, 2019) – NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt ranked #1 for the February 2019 sweep period according to Nielsen Research data, finishing #1 in the key news demo rating for 15 consecutive sweep periods and 41 of the last 44 sweeps.
The broadcast averaged 2.011 million A25-54 viewers for a rating of 1.67, on par with ABC World News Tonight and besting CBS Evening News by +642,000 viewers (+47%). Compared to the sweep period in November, Nightly News grew across the board, +6%(+119,000) in A25-54, +5% (+64,000) A18-49, and +3% (+297,000) total viewers.
Among A18-49, Nightly News averaged 1.360 million viewers for the sweep period, topping ABC by +17,000 (+1%) and CBS by +377,000 (+38%). Nightly News is now #1 in A18-49 for 15 straight sweeps and 45 of the last 46 sweeps.
Nightly News averaged 8.794 million total viewers for the February 2019 sweep, leading CBS Evening News by +2.129 million viewers (+32%). Nightly News grew its total viewer audience year-over-year by 2% (+138,000).
