Wins Sunday in Key Demo for 53rd Straight Broadcast – Best Streak in Over 18 Years
Continues to Dominate Ratings Across-the-Board Season to Date
FEBRUARY 5, 2019 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key 25-54 demo this past Sunday, February 3, beating CBS’ Face the Nation, which broadcast from the Super Bowl and featured an exclusive interview with President Donald Trump, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with CBC Chair Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), CBC Whip Rep. Donald McEachin (D-Va.), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.).
MTP won in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 53rd straight broadcast. 935,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +40 percent (+267,000) more than ABC’s This Week and five percent (+41,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This is the broadcast’s best streak in over 18 years (since October 15, 2000). Week over week, MTP increased its lead over ABC by seven percent.
3.525 million total viewers watched Sunday’s program: +24 percent (+673,000) more than ABC’s This Week. MTP topped ABC by double digits and just four percent of viewers separated MTP from CBS, which only rated for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. This marks the broadcast’s 33rd straight win over ABC. Compared to last Sunday, MTP improved its total viewer lead over ABC by ten percent.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its best total viewer lead over ABC in seven years and CBS in eight years.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming the competition combined among A25-54 viewers and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).
An additional 674,000 total viewers and 174,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
