JANUARY 23, 2019 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, January 20, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its ninth straight week at #1.
Sunday’s broadcast featured an interview with Rudy Giuliani, lawyer for President Donald Trump, who said for the first time that conversations and plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow remained an “active proposal” and “went on throughout 2016,” and exclusive interviews with Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).
MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver more than four million total viewers, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 4.214 million total viewers tuned in to the Sunday program: +30 percent (+984,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +12 percent (+440,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This marks the broadcast’s 31st straight win over ABC and ninth straight win over CBS in total viewers. MTP posted its highest total viewership in over a year (since January 7, 2018) and its widest advantages over ABC and CBS in five months (since August 12, 2018). Compared to the same broadcast last year, MTP grew by +16 percent (+594,000) and increased its advantage over ABC by +72 percent. Compared to last week, MTP added +17,000 total viewers and increased its leads over both ABC (13 percent higher) and CBS (up + four percent).
