#1 in Key Demo for 49th Straight Broadcast – Best Streak in Over 18 Years
Tops Competition by Double Digits in Key Demo
Marks a 46-Week High in Total Viewership
JANUARY 8, 2019 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, January 6, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its seventh straight week at #1.
Sunday’s broadcast featured an interview with Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and exclusive interviews with Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).
3.755 million total viewers tuned in to the Sunday program: +25 percent (+743,000) more than ABC’s This Week and seven percent (+252,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This marks the broadcast’s 29th straight win over ABC and seventh straight win over CBS in total viewers. MTP’s total viewership hit a 46-week high, posting its best delivery since the Pyeongchang Olympics (February 18, 2018). MTP also posted its biggest advantage over ABC in nine weeks (since November 4, 2018).
MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 49th straight broadcast, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 941,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +34 percent (+238,000) more than ABC and +24 percent (+183,000) more than CBS. This is the broadcast’s best streak in over 18 years (since October 15, 2000). This marks MTP’s largest A25-54 audience since April 15, 2018 and its biggest advantage over CBS since November 4, 2018.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its best total viewer lead over ABC in six years and CBS in eight years.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).
An additional 1.020 million total viewers and 234,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
