#1 in Key Demo for 45th Straight Broadcast – Best Streak in Over 18 Years

DECEMBER 11, 2018 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in total viewers and the key news demo this past Sunday, December 9, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its third straight week at #1.
Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with Sen. Rand Paul and Wisconsin gov.-elect Tony Evers. Sen. Angus King also joined the program. 3.543 million total viewers tuned in to the Sunday program: +26 percent (+742,000) more than ABC’s This Week and six percent (+205,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This marks the broadcast’s 27th straight win over ABC and third straight win over CBS in total viewers. Week over week, MTP was up by six percent (+202,000), averaging a 13-week high in total viewership (since September 9,2018) and increasing its lead over ABC by +59 percent (+274,000) and CBS by +27 percent (+43,000). Compared to last year, MTP improved its lead over CBS by 2.5X (+205,000 vs. +82,000 last year).
MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 45th straight broadcast, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 914,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +45 percent (+285,000) more than ABC and +12 percent (+100,000) more than CBS. This is the broadcast’s best streak in over 18 years (since October 15, 2000). Compared to last week, MTP was up by nine percent (+73,000), increasing its lead over ABC by +77 percent (+124,000) and averaging a 16-week high in demo viewership (since August 19, 2018). Year-over-year, MTP improved its lead over ABC by +13 percent (+33,000).
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its best total viewer lead over ABC in seven seasons (since 2011-12) and CBS in eight seasons (since 2010-11).
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).
An additional 1.142 million total viewers and 344,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
