Tops ABC & CBS in Key A25-54 Demo
6.8M Viewers Livestreamed via NBC News Digital Platforms
September 28, 2018 – NBC News’ coverage of Thursday’s testimonies from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh before the Senate Judiciary Committee was #1 on broadcast in the key A25-54 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
NBC News’ coverage of the testimonies aired live from 9:30 a.m. ET through 6:47 p.m. ET, leading into an abbreviated broadcast of NBC Nightly News on the east coast. NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, NBC News chief legal correspondent and TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, moderator of Meet the Press and NBC News political director Chuck Todd, Megyn Kelly TODAY host Megyn Kelly, and NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell led NBC News’ special coverage from NBC News World Headquarters in New York.
NBC News averaged 749,000 A25-54 viewers, outperforming ABC by +57,000 (+8 percent) and CBS by +117,000 (+19 percent). In A18-49, NBC averaged 564,000 viewers, topping ABC by +53,000 (+10 percent) and CBS by +93,000 (+20 percent). An average of 2.948 million total viewers tuned in to NBC.
NBC News Digital’s livestream garnered a total of 3.5 million video starts across all digital platforms, including NBCNews.com and MSNBC.com. This was NBC News Digital’s most-watched livestream of the year. In total, combining the livestream and additional digital video starts, the hearings garnered more than 6.8 million video starts.
