AUGUST 28, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of August, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its ninth straight month at #1 and its best streak in nearly seven years.

MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver more than three million total viewers in August. 3.518 million total viewers tuned into MTP in August, as the show beat both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +32 percent (+850,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and +25 percent (+693,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation.” August marks the 15th straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the ninth straight month MTP has beaten CBS in total viewers. Compared to last year, MTP grew by two percent (+72,000), posting its best August total viewer delivery in 10 years (since August 2008). Year-over-year, MTP more than doubled its lead over ABC (+452,000) and tripled its lead over CBS (+470,000), posting its biggest August advantages over ABC and CBS in seven years (since August 2011). Compared to last month, MTP grew by +23 percent and more than tripled its lead over ABC and CBS (+583,000 and +484,000, respectively). 

MTP continues to dominate the demo most valued by news advertisers, winning its 11th consecutive month among A24-54 viewers. 892,000 key demo viewers tuned in in August, as MTP again outperformed its competition by double-digits: +44 percent (+271,000) more than ABC and +46 percent (+283,000) more than CBS. August is the 11th straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the 31st straight month MTP has beaten CBS in the key demo. Compared to last year, MTP increased its lead over ABC by +66 percent (+108,000) and CBS by +6 percent (+16,000), posting its biggest August lead over ABC in six years (since August 2012) and CBS in 10 years (since August 2008). Compared to last month, MTP grew by +22 percent, and nearly tripled its lead over ABC (+178,000) and improved its advantage over CBS by +39 percent (+80,000).

MTP was also the most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, August 26, beating its competition by double-digits across the board and marking its 10th straight week at #1, its best streak in nearly seven years (since Sept. 18, 2011). Sunday’s show featured exclusive interviews with Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who said “our institutions are being severely tested right now, including [Sen. John McCain’s] beloved Senate,” as well as an interview with Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).

3.413 million total viewers tuned in on Sunday: +20 percent (+570,000) more than ABC and +10 percent (+297,000) more than CBS. This marks MTP’s 14th straight win over ABC and 10th straight win over CBS in total viewers. MTP was also the most-watched broadcast in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 32nd straight broadcast, its best streak in over 11 years (since April 15, 2007). MTP topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits: 862,000 A25-54 viewers tuned in: +23 percent (+161,000) more than ABC and +33 percent (+215,000) more than CBS.

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its largest advantages over ABC and CBS in total viewers in six years (since 2011-2012). This marks the second straight year MTP is #1 across the board at this point in the season.

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).

An additional 1.164 million total viewers and 322,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
