‘TODAY’ Tops ‘GMA’ in A25-54 for the Month of July, Best Streak in Nearly 6 Years

‘TODAY’ Also Wins A18-49 for 40 Consecutive Months

‘TODAY’ Improves Margin vs. ABC and Lead vs. CBS

NEW YORK – July 31, 2018 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show for the month of July, topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the key A25-54 demo. This win marks TODAY’s 35thstraight month (136 consecutive weeks) in first place in the key demo, its best in six years.  TODAY also won with A18-49, its 40thconsecutive month at number one (155 out of the last 156 weeks).  Month over month, TODAY improved its A25-54 and A18-49 advantages over “GMA” by 13% and 76%, respectively.  Additionally, TODAY improved its margin vs. “GMA” by 26% and also its lead over “CBS This Morning” by 67% month-over-month.

For both last week and season to date, TODAY continues its winning streaks in the key demos, topping GMA in A25-54 and A18-49.

JULY 2018 BROADCAST MONTH

TODAY posted its 35th consecutive monthly win among A25-54 viewers – its best streak in nearly six years

  •          TODAY averaged 1.166 million A25-54 viewers, +86,000 (+8%) over ABC and +480,000 (+70%) ahead of CBS
  •          Versus prior month, TODAY’s demo lead over GMA increased by 13%

TODAY ranked #1 among A18-49 viewers for the 40th consecutive month – its best streak in nearly six years

  •          TODAY averaged 820,000 A18-49 viewers, leading GMA by +65,000 (+9%) and CBS by +321,000 (+65%)
  •          Versus prior month, TODAY’s A18-49 lead over GMA was up 76%

TODAY averaged 3.545 million total viewers, leading CBS by +715,000 (+25%)

  •          TODAY’s total viewer gap versus GMA improved by 26% compared to prior month
  •          Versus the same month last year, TODAY’s total viewer lead over CBS grew by 67%

  •          TODAY delivered a 0.97 A25-54 rating, +0.04 points ahead of GMA and +0.41 points more than CBS
  •          TODAY posted higher demo advantages over CBS This Morning compared to both prior week (up 14%) and the same week last season (9% higher)
  •          Week-over-week, TODAY’s A25-54 viewership increased by +28,000 (+2%)

TODAY averaged 827,000 A18-49 viewers, +51,000 (+7%) ahead of GMA and +330,000 (+66%) higher than CBS

  •          TODAY has been #1 among A18-49 viewers in 154 of the last 155 weeks
  •          TODAY delivered a 0.64 A18-49 rating, +0.04 points more than GMA and +0.25 points better than CBS
  •          Versus prior week, TODAY delivered the biggest increase of A18-49 viewers (+34,000) and improved its advantages over both GMA (by 24%) and CBS (by 10%)

TODAY averaged 3.565 million total viewers, leading CBS This Morning by +718,000 (+25%)

  •          TODAY added +81,000 total viewers week-over-week, a +2% gain
  •          Compared to the same week last season, TODAY’s advantage over CBS increased by 74%

SEASON-TO-DATE

TODAY ranks #1 among A25-54 viewers

  •          Leads GMA by +147,000 (+11%) and CBS by +556,000 (+62%)

TODAY ranks #1 among A18-49 viewers

  •          Leads GMA by +141,000 (+15%) and CBS by +415,000 (+64%)
