Beats Competition by Double-Digits Across the Board for April

Only Sunday Show to Deliver More Than Three Million Total Viewers This Past Sunday, Winning Across the Board 

MAY 1, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of April, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its fifth straight month at #1.

3.374 million total viewers tuned into MTP in April, as the show beat both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +11 percent (+330,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and +11 percent (+344,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which only rates for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. April marks the eleventh straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the fifth straight month MTP has beaten CBS in total viewers. Compared to last year, MTP improved its advantage over CBS by +471,000 – its biggest April advantage over CBS in seven years (since April 2011).

MTP continues to dominate the demo most valued by news advertisers, winning its seventh consecutive month among A24-54 viewers. 909,000 key demo viewers tuned in in April, as MTP outperformed its competition by double-digits: +11 percent (+91,000) more than ABC and +36 percent (+242,000) more than CBS. April is the seventh straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the 27th straight month MTP has beaten CBS in the key demo. Compared to last year, MTP improved its advantage over CBS by +13 percent (+33,000), posting its biggest April advantage over CBS in ten years (since April 2008).  

MTP was also the most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, April 29, beating its competition by double-digits across the board and marking its second straight week at #1. Sunday’s show featured exclusive interviews with former FBI Director James Comey and Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.).

As the only Sunday show to deliver more than three million total viewers, 3.216 million total viewers tuned in on Sunday: +21 percent (+566,000) more than ABC and +11 percent (+324,000) more than CBS. This marks MTP’s fifth straight win over CBS. Compared to last year, MTP improved its lead over ABC by +103,000) and over CBS by +982,000 total viewers. Compared to last week, MTP improved its lead over ABC by +63 percent (+220,000).

MTP was also the most-watched broadcast in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 20th straight broadcast, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 853,000 A25-54 viewers tuned in: +12 percent (+92,000) more than ABC and +30 percent (+196,000) more than CBS. Compared to last year, MTP nearly tripled its key demo advantage over CBS (+120,000).

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its largest advantages over ABC and CBS in total viewers in six years (since 2011-2012). This marks the second straight year MTP is #1 across the board at this point in the season.

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for three straight years (since March 22, 2015).

An additional 979,000 total viewers and 233,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
