Only Sunday Show to Deliver More Than Four Million Total Viewers and One Million A25-54 Viewers
Beats Competition by Double-Digits Across the Board
FEBRUARY 13, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, February 11, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its third straight week at #1.
Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with White House director of legislative affairs Marc Short, who said there was “some lack of communication” in the White House regarding the handling of adviser Rob Porter, and Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).
4.097 million total viewers tuned into MTP, beating both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +30 percent (+957,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and +19 percent (+653,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation.” MTP was the only Sunday public affairs program to deliver more than four million total viewers. This marks MTP’s 44th straight win over ABC and third straight win over CBS. Compared to last Sunday, MTP tripled its lead over CBS (+458,000 viewers) and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP improved its advantage over ABC by +27 percent (+201,000) and CBS by +115 percent (+64,000).
MTP was also the most-watched broadcast in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its tenth straight broadcast, beating both ABC and CBS by double-digits. MTP was the only Sunday public affairs program to deliver more than one million demo viewers. 1.223 million demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +45 percent (+382,000) more than ABC and +56 percent (+441,000) more than CBS. This was MTP’s biggest demo audience in nearly a year (since 2/19/2017). Compared to last Sunday, MTP was up two percent (+26,000) and improved its advantage over CBS by +30 percent (+101,000). Compared to last year, MTP improved its advantage over ABC by +18 percent (+58,000) and CBS by +19 percent (+69,000).
Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, beating competition by double-digits: +17 percent (+146,000) more than ABC and +25percent (+196,000) more than CBS. Just one percent of total viewers separate MTP from CBS, which only rates for the first 30 minutes of its hour broadcast.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers since March 22, 2015.
An additional 674,000 total viewers and 148,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through a rebroadcast on MSNBC.
