Only Sunday Show to Grow Week Over Week in Key Demo

JANUARY 23, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the most-watched Sunday show in the key demo this past Sunday, January 21, according to Nielsen Media Research data, winning its seventh straight broadcast at #1.

Sunday’s broadcast featured an exclusive interview with Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) who stated he “can’t make that commitment at all” to fully support President Trump on immigration as well as interviews with White House Legislative Affairs Director Marc Short and Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.).

MTP won in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its seventh straight broadcast, beating competition by double-digits. MTP was the only Sunday public affairs program to deliver more than one million demo viewers. With 1.038 million A25-54 viewers tuning in, MTP topped ABC’s “This Week” by +21 percent (+182,000) and CBS’ “Face the Nation by +26 percent (+217,000). MTP was the only Sunday show to grow week-over-week in the key demo, doubling its advantages over both ABC and CBS. Year over year, MTP improved its advantage over CBS by five percent (+10,000).

3.617 million total viewers tuned into MTP, topping ABC in total viewers for the 41st straight broadcast: +19 percent (+571,000) more than ABC. Just two percent separated MTP from CBS, which only rates for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. Year-over-year, MTP improved its advantage over ABC by +22 percent (+104,000).

Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, beating competition by double-digits: ABC by +14 percent (+119,000) and CBS by +20 percent (+162,000).

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday as the most-watched broadcast since March 22, 2015.

An additional 944,000 total viewers and 275,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
