#1 in Key Demo for 20 of The Last 21 Months
Leads Competition By Double Digits in Demo This Past Sunday; Only Sunday Show to Deliver More Than One Million Demo Viewers
Tune in Sunday for a Special 70th Anniversary Edition of “Meet the Press”
OCTOBER 31, 2017 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) is the #1 most-watched Sunday show for the month of October in the demo most valued by news advertisers, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
MTP has now won in the key demo for 20 of the last 21 months, averaging 951,000 A25-54 viewers for the month of October: +16 percent (+130,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and topping CBS’ “Face the Nation” for the 21st consecutive month, +18 percent (+143,000).
An average of 3.261 million total viewers tuned into MTP in October, +13 percent (+371,000) more than ABC. Season-to-date, CBS’ “Face the Nation” holds a first-minute advantage over MTP of more than 1.3 million total viewers due to its CBS “Sunday Morning” lead-in. To note, CBS continues to rate for only the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast.
This past Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) as well as an interview with Huntington, W.V. Fire Chief Jan Rader on her battle against the opioid epidemic. New NBC News/Wall Street Journal also premiered on the broadcast, revealing a historic low approval rating for President Trump.
MTP won its 15th straight broadcast in the key demo, topping its competition by double digits. 1.009 million A25-54 viewers tuned into Sunday’s program: +24 percent (+193,000) more than ABC and +43 percent (+305,000) more than CBS. Week-over-week, MTP grew 12 percent and marked its biggest advantage over CBS since June 2017 (+43 percent, +305,000).
3.396 million total viewers tuned into MTP, topping ABC in total viewers for the 31th straight broadcast: +24 percent (+193,000) more than ABC.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, topping ABC by +16 percent (+131,000) and CBS by +18 percent (+143,000). The broadcast also leads ABC in total viewers by +13 percent (+371,000), its biggest advantage in six years (since the 2011-12 broadcast season).
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday in total viewers since March 2015.
An additional 644,000 total viewers and 153,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into MTP this past Sunday through a rebroadcast on MSNBC.
