NEW YORK – August 1, 2017 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” once again in the key demo A25-54. TODAY has now won 83 straight weeks in the key demo (99 of the last 100 weeks), its best streak in more than four years. TODAY also won the month of July in the key demo marking its 23rd straight monthly win.  TODAY’s A25-54 and A18-49 wins over GMA have reached five-year highs, and TODAY has cut the total viewer gap with GMA by 12% season to date (-194,000 vs. -220,000 last season).  TODAY has also increased its A25-54 advantage over GMA by 22% versus last season.

  • TODAY delivered a 1.06 A25-54 rating, +0.04 points ahead of GMA and +0.36 points more than CBS

TODAY averaged 937,000 A18-49 viewers, +73,000 (+9%) more than GMA and +333,000 (+55%) higher than CBS

  • TODAY posted a +4% (+37,000) increase in A18-49 viewers week-to-week
  • TODAY’s 0.73 A18-49 rating led GMA by +0.06 points and CBS by +0.26 points

TODAY averaged 3.632 million total viewers, leading CBS This Morning by +413,000 (+13%)

  • Compared to the prior week, TODAY gained +4,000 total viewers
  • TODAY reduced the total viewer gap with GMA by 38% compared to the same week last season (-197,000 vs. -317,000 last year)

JULY 2017

TODAY  has ranked #1 among A25-54 viewers for 23 consecutive months and 24 of the last 25 months

  • TODAY averaged 1.283 million viewers, leading GMA by +111,000 (+9%) and CBS by 474,000 (+59%)

TODAY ranked #1 among A18-49 for the 28th consecutive month, 30 of the last 32 months, and 48 of the last 55 months

  • TODAY averaged 937,000 A18-49 viewers, +118,000 (+14%) higher than GMA and +359,000 (+62%) more than CBS

TODAY finished #2 in total viewers for the seventh straight month and 58 of the last 61 months

  • TODAY averaged 3.646 million viewers, trailing GMA by -180,000 (-5%) but leading CBS by +429,000 (+13%)
  • TODAY reduced the total viewer gap with GMA by 19% compared to July 2016 (-180,000 vs. -222,000 last year)

TODAY DIGITAL HIGHLIGHTS:

TODAY reached more consumers than GMA on Yahoo with over 32.8 million unique visitors turning to TODAY.com in June for exclusive interviews and the latest lifestyle, parenting and entertainment news, according to recent data from comScore. For 42 consecutive months (51 out of the last 52), TODAY.com has reached more mobile consumers than GMA on Yahoo. TODAY.com has gone from parity in mobile unique visitors in September 2013 to delivering 3.0x GMA on Yahoo’s mobile visitor number in June 2017.
