The NBC News Broadcast Posts Largest A18-49 Demo Advantage Over ABC in Four Years
NEW YORK (July 28, 2017) – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” ranked #1 in the demo for the July 2017 sweep period, averaging 1.6 million A25-54 viewers, leading “ABC World News Tonight” by +85,000 viewers (+6%) and “CBS Evening News” by +419,000 viewers (+35%). Versus July 2016, Nightly News posted higher demo leads over CBS (by +6%). The NBC News broadcast has finished #1 in the demo for nine consecutive sweep periods and 35 of the last 38 sweeps.
Among A18-49, Nightly News averaged 1.2 million viewers for the sweep period, topping ABC by +115,000 (+11%) and CBS by +402,000 (+52%). Nightly News has been #1 in A18-49 for nine straight sweeps and 39 of the last 40 sweeps. Year over year, Nightly News improved its A18-49 lead over ABC by +5% (+115,000 vs. +110,000 in July 2016) and CBS by +34% (+402,000 vs. +301,000 in July 2016). This was Nightly News’ largest July A18-49 advantages over ABC in four years and CBS in five years.
Nightly News averaged 7.2 million total viewers for July sweep, leading CBS Evening News by +1.6 million viewers (+28%). Nightly News posted its widest July total viewer lead over CBS in three years, up 24% vs. July 2016 (1.6 million vs. +1.3 million in July 16).
