NEW YORK – May 26, 2017 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show for the May sweep topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the key demo A25-54, its biggest May sweep demo win over GMA in five years. TODAY has now won eight consecutive sweeps in the key demo. TODAY has also spent 73 straight weeks in first place (89 of 90 weeks) in the key demo, its best streak in more than four years, and its A25-54 and A18-49 wins over GMA have reached five-year highs, season to date.
Additionally, TODAY won the February sweep in the key demo, and last year, TODAY won eight weeks in total viewers including the week of the presidential election, the month of December, and the third quarter.

- TODAY averaged 1.534 million A25-54 viewers, outperforming GMA by +197,000 (+15%) and CBS This Morning by +552,000 (+56%)
- This represents TODAY’s biggest May sweep demo win over GMA in five years
- TODAY posted a 39% wider A25-54 margin over GMA than during the February 2017 sweep (+197,000 vs. +142,000 in Feb’17)
TODAY has ranked #1 in A18-49 for 10 consecutive sweep periods and 89 of the last 92 sweeps
- TODAY has won every May sweep in A18-49 since 1995 (23 straight years)
- TODAY averaged 1.135 million A18-49 viewers, leading GMA by +180,000 (+19%) and CBS by +428,000 (+61%)
- This was TODAY’s biggest May sweep A18-49 margin over GMA in five years
- TODAY improved its A18-49 advantages over GMA compared to both the May 2016 sweep (by 15%) and February 2017 sweep (by 61%)
TODAY averaged 4.128 million total viewers, +547,000 more than CBS (+15%)
