Nightly News Increased its A18-49 Demo Win by +85% from May 2016
NEW YORK (May 26, 2017) – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” ranked #1 in the demo for the May 2017 sweep period, averaging 1.7 million A25-54 viewers, leading “ABC World News Tonight” by +177,000 viewers (+12%) and “CBS Evening News” by 411,000 viewers (+32%). Versus May 2016, Nightly News posted higher demo leads over both ABC (by +2%) and CBS (by +15%). The NBC News broadcast has finished #1 in the demo for eight consecutive sweep periods and 34 of the last 37 sweeps.
Among A18-49, Nightly News averaged 1.2 million viewers for the sweep period, topping ABC by +178,000 (+17%) and CBS by +331,000 (+37%). Nightly News has been #1 in A18-49 for eight straight sweeps and 38 of the last 39 sweeps. Year over year, Nightly News improved its A18-49 lead over ABC by +85% (+178,000 vs. +96,000 in May 2016) and CBS by +18% (+331,000 vs. +280,000 in May 2016).
Nightly News averaged 7.5 million total viewers for May sweep, leading CBS Evening News by +1.4 million viewers (+24%). Nightly News improved its lead over CBS by +14% from the May 2016 sweep.
