Wins Seventh Consecutive Sweep in Key Demo, First Time in Six Years
Outperforms Competition in Demo by Double-Digits
Continues as #1 Most-Watched Sunday Show Season-to-Date Across the Board
MAY 23, 2017 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) won the key demo for the 2017 May Sweep, outperforming its competition by double-digits and continuing its season-to-date lead as #1 across the board, according to Nielsen data.
Dominating with viewers most valued by news advertisers, MTP delivered an average of 1.030 million A25-54 viewers – the only Sunday show to surpass the one million viewer mark. MTP topped CBS’ “Face the Nation” by +20 percent (+172,000) and ABC’s “This Week” by +30 percent (+235,000).
This is the seventh consecutive sweeps period in which MTP is #1 in the key demo: the last time this happened was six years ago (from February 2010 – July 2011).
3.421 million total viewers tuned into MTP during the May Sweep period, +12 percent (+373,000) more than ABC. Just eight percent (-282,000) separated MTP from CBS, which continues to rate for only the first 30 minutes of its hour-long program.
MTP rated for an average of 51 minutes during the May Sweep period, longer than its network competition (21 minutes more than CBS and seven minutes more than ABC).
MTP was pre-empted this past Sunday, May 21 for coverage of the Premier League.
