NEW YORK – May 2, 2017 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show for the month of April topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” once again in the key demo A25-54. TODAY has now won 20 straight months in the key demo (70 straight weeks), its best streak in more than four years. TODAY also posted its biggest total viewer delivery in seven weeks, since the week of March 6.  TODAY’s A25-54 and A18-49 wins over GMA have reached five-year highs, and TODAY has grown its A25-54 advantage over GMA by 49%, season to date versus last season. TODAY has also cut the total viewer gap with GMA by 21% season to date (-187,000 vs. -236,000 last season).

TODAY HIGHLIGHTS:

TODAY has won 20 consecutive months (and 21 of the last 22) among A25-54 viewers

  • TODAY averaged 1.536 million A25-54 viewers, +12% (+165,000) higher than GMA and +50% (+509,000) more than CBS

TODAY has been #1 among A18-49 viewers for 25 straight months

  • TODAY averaged 1.163 million A18-49 viewers, leading GMA by +18% (+174,000) and CBS by +58% (+427,000)
  • Versus ABC, TODAY improved its A18-49 lead month-to-month (by 6%) and compared to April 2016 (by 9%)

TODAY averaged 4.072 million total viewers, topping CBS by +12% (+420,000)

  • TODAY ranked #1 all five mornings in A25-54
  • TODAY delivered a 1.26 A25-54 rating, +0.09 points ahead of GMA and +0.42 points more than CBS

TODAY averaged 1.117 million A18-49 viewers, +95,000 (+9%) more than GMA and +389,000 (+53%) higher than CBS

  • TODAY’s 0.87 A18-49 rating led GMA by +0.07 points and CBS by +0.30 points

TODAY averaged 4.030 million total viewers, leading CBS This Morning by +414,000 (+12%)

  • Week-to-week, TODAY added +101,000 viewers and posted its biggest audience since the week of 3/6/2017

  • TODAY’s A25-54 and A18-49 leads over GMA have reached five-year highs

TODAY’s total viewer gap vs. GMA has been reduced by 21% (-187,000 vs. -236,000 last season)

TODAY DIGITAL HIGHLIGHTS:
TODAY reached more consumers than GMA on Yahoo with over 35.7 million unique visitors turning to TODAY.com in March for exclusive interviews and the latest lifestyle, parenting and entertainment news, according to recent data from comScore. For 39 consecutive months (48 out of the last 49), TODAY.com has reached more mobile consumers than GMA on Yahoo. TODAY.com has gone from parity in mobile unique visitors in September 2013 to delivering more than 3.2x GMA on Yahoo’s mobile visitor number in March 2017.
