#1 in Key Demo for First Time in Four Years; Biggest Demo Year-Over-Year Growth in Program History
Biggest Total Viewer Audience in Seven Seasons; Most Year-Over-Year Growth in 23 Years
Slated to Win Across the Board in Advertiser-Important C3 Metric for First Season Since 2011-2012
SEPT. 20, 2016 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo for the 2015-2016 season, marking its first season win in four years (since 2011-2012).
“Meet the Press” joins the ranks of NBC News’ “Nightly News with Lester Holt, “TODAY,” and “Dateline,” as all four network news programs are #1 in the valued A25-54 demo for the first time since the 2010-2011 season.
The network broadcast topped CBS’ “Face the Nation” half-hour by +109,000 viewers A25-54 and ABC’s “This Week” by +92,000 viewers A25-54 for the season. Its strength in the key demo is marked by its +25 percent year-over-year growth: the most growth of all Sunday shows and the best year-over-year improvement in the history of the program.
The network broadcast also ranked #1 most-watched in the A18-49 demo, delivering its largest audience since 2010-2011.
“Meet the Press” delivered its largest total viewer audience since the 2008-2009 season. Just 103,000 viewers separated the program from tying with CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which was retitled for the entire month of August this season. “Meet the Press” grew +25 percent year-over-year in total viewers, delivering its best improvement in 23 years (since the 1992-1993 season) – more than any other Sunday public affairs program.
In the advertiser-important C3 Nielsen ad rating, “Meet the Press” is on track to be #1 across the board, topping CBS’ “Face the Nation” and ABC’s “This Week” with total viewers, P25-54 and P18-49 for the season. This will mark the first across-the-board season win since 2011-2012. First debuting in 2007, C3 ratings represent the currency on which commercial inventory is sold. “Meet the Press” is the most-viewed Sunday program on-demand (DVR) of all three broadcast networks.
