Dateline’s Sunday Edition is the Only Newsmagazine to Post Across-the-Board Growth versus Last Season
Dateline is #1 in All Categories for Third Quarter 2016, with Double-Digit Advantages over ABC on Fridays

NEW YORK (September 20, 2016) – “Dateline NBC” finished the 2015-16 season ranked as the #1 newsmagazine across the board on Fridays, and the Sunday edition was the only newsmagazine to post across-the-board growth versus the previous season.
On Friday nights, Dateline averaged 4.8 million total viewers, posting its fourth consecutive season victory over ABC’s 20/20. In the key news demo of A25-54, Dateline Friday averaged 1.7 million viewers, +2% (+26,000) over ABC. Among A18-49, Dateline Friday averaged 1.3 million viewers. Dateline’s Friday night wins among A25-54 and A18-49 are its first season victories in those demos since the 2010-11 season.
On Sunday, Dateline averaged 5.1 million total viewers, 1.3 million A18-49 viewers, and 1.7 million A25-54 viewers. Dateline Sunday was the only newsmagazine to post across-the-board growth versus the 2014-15 season in total viewers (+2%, or +96,000), A18-49 viewers (+10%, or +123,000), and A25-54 viewers (+8%, or +122,000).
Dateline was the #1 Friday newsmagazine during the third quarter of 2016, posting double-digits advantages over 20/20 in total viewers (+19%, or +770,000), A18-49 viewers (+23%, or +220,000), and A25-54 viewers (+24%, or +308,000).
Please note that Dateline followed the traditional 2015-16 season range (September 21, 2015 – September 18, 2016), while 20/20’s season range was September 7, 2015 – September 4, 2016.
