New York – January 21, 2016 – In a powerful Sunday series, Dateline NBC will air “In the Shadow of Justice,” featuring new developments in its most riveting reports on wrongful convictions. Since 1992, Dateline has been reporting on the criminal justice system, and the special series will shine a light on three in-depth investigations of cases that sparked public outrage and seized headlines across the country, involving Eric Glisson, Ryan Ferguson and Daniel Villegas. “In the Shadow of Justice,” a four-part series, begins on Sunday, January 24 at 7pm/6c, and concludes on Sunday, February 14 with Keith Morrison’s all-new report on false confessions.

  • “A Bronx Tale” Airs Sunday, January 24 at 7p/6c: Josh Mankiewicz tells the story Eric Glisson, who was wrongly convicted of the 1995 murder of a Bronx cab driver. From behind bars, and with the help of those who believed in him, he was able to prove his innocence after serving 18 years of his life in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. In a new interview with Dateline, Eric opens up about his life after his release.
  • “The Wrong Man” Airs Sunday, January 31 at 7p/6c: Keith Morrison has the latest on the story of Ryan Ferguson, who was released from prison in 2013 after serving nearly 10 years for a murder he always said he never committed.
  • “The Confession” Airs Sunday, February 7 at 7p/6c: 16-year-old Daniel Villegas confessed to a double murder in El Paso, Texas, and was sentenced to life in prison. When a local businessman heard of the case 12 years later, his investigation led him to believe the teen was coerced into a confession and wrongfully convicted. Keith Morrison reports on the businessman’s fight to free Villegas – against all odds.
  • All-new Dateline Airs Sunday, February 14 at 7p/6c: 18-year-old Robert Davis faced police questioning about the killing of a young mother and her son, after two neighborhood teens accused him of helping them in the robbery-turned-murder. Though Davis denied any involvement, at the end of a 5-hour interrogation he confessed to the crime he claimed he didn’t commit. For more than a decade, his lawyer struggled to prove that Davis’ confession was false and coerced. Getting the conviction reversed would take a miracle, until he got support from the most unexpected sources. Keith Morrison reports.
