NEW YORK – July 16, 2015 – NBC’s TODAY continues to gain momentum, tightening the morning news ratings race and posting consistent wins. For the week of July 6, TODAY was the number-one morning show Thursday, topping GMA by 17k in the key demo A25-54. This marks TODAY’s 35th single-day A25-54 win this year. For the week, TODAY came within just 33k key demo viewers of GMA.

TODAY continues to cut the gap with GMA by huge numbers in multiple measures.  TODAY narrowed the A25-54 gap with GMA by a whopping 265k viewers (89%) versus the same week last year.  TODAY also cut the demo gap by 35k (28%) year-to-date versus the same period last year.  Additionally, TODAY narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA in triple measures: by a giant 256k (34%) versus the same week last year; by 27k (5%) year to date versus same period last year; and by 40k (7%) season to date versus same period last year.

TODAY has posted five weekly demo wins and a daily total viewer win this year. TODAY remains the number-one morning news program in A18-49 for the season and year.

  • TODAY was the number-one morning show Thursday topping GMA by +17,000 viewers in the key demo A25-54
  • TODAY has posted 5 weekly key demo wins (35 daily wins) this year
  • TODAY averaged 1.500 million A25-54 viewers, coming within just 33,000 of GMA and leading CBS by +587,000 viewers (+64%)
  • TODAY averaged 4.052 million total viewers, +27% (+871,000) more than CBS
  • TODAY was #1 in A18-49, with 1.070 million viewers
  • Season-to-date, TODAY is the #1 morning news program among A18-49 viewers
  • 2014-15 vs 2013-14 season-to-date:
    • The P2+ gap vs. ABC is -7% smaller (-567,000 this season vs -607,000 last season)
  • 2015 vs 2014 broadcast year-to-date:
    • The P25-54 gap vs. ABC is -28% smaller (-89,000 this year-to-date vs -124,000 last year-to-date)
    • The P2+ gap vs. ABC is -5% smaller (-528,000 this year-to-date vs -555,000 last year-to-date)
  • This week vs. same week last year:
    • The P25-54 gap vs. ABC is -89% smaller (-33,000 this year vs -298,000 last year)
    • The P2+ gap vs. ABC is -34% smaller (-494,000 this year vs. -750,000 last year)

TODAY.COM HIGHLIGHTS:

For the 13th straight month, Today.com reached more consumers than GMA on Yahoo.  Almost 30 million unique visitors turned to Today.com in June for exclusive interviews and the latest lifestyle, parenting and entertainment news, according to recent data from comScore.  For 21 consecutive months (28 out of the last 29), Today.com has reached more mobile consumers than GMA on Yahoo.

Additionally, Today.com’s mobile unique visitors have grown +62% over the last 12 months while GMA on Yahoo has declined -5% for the same period. As such, Today.com has gone from parity in mobile unique visitors in September 2013 to nearly 2.5x GMA on Yahoo’s mobile visitor number in June 2015.
