Durst’s Close Friends Stewart And Emily Altman Speak Out For The First Time Since His March 2015 Arrest In An Exclusive Interview

Stewart Altman Tells Dateline: “[Durst] has a good heart inside. I really think so.”

Reported on by Keith Morrison, “Robert Durst: The Lost Years” Airs Tonight at 10pm/9c on NBC’s Dateline

NEW YORK – June 19, 2015 – Tonight at 10pm/9c, NBC’s Dateline will air “Robert Durst: The Lost Years” and take viewers inside the twisted saga of the infamous New York real estate heir and accused murderer. Reported by Keith Morrison, the special reveals stories from chapters in Durst’s life, little known by the public until now. Durst’s longtime close friends Stewart and Emily Altman speak out for the first time since his March 2015 arrest in an exclusive sit-down interview with Morrison. The Altman’s offer surprising anecdotes about Durst’s acquittal in the Galveston case, his recent arrest in New Orleans, and his whereabouts over the past 30 years. They also provide fresh insight into Durst’s early life, his troubled marriage, and ill-fated career.

Stewart Altman, who is also a member of Durst’s legal team, tells Morrison: “He has a good heart inside. I really think so.”

Throughout the hour, Dateline provides new revelations into a case that captivated the country and follows the trail of Durst’s strange and troubled life on the road. Morrison travels to Eureka, California to report on the case of a missing teenage girl, in which Durst is considered a person of interest, among others, by the FBI and local authorities. Morrison tracks down a possible eyewitness and speaks with Eureka Police Chief Andy Mills about her disappearance.

“Robert Durst: The Lost Years” features fresh interviews with Durst’s Attorney Dick DeGuerin, former New York prosecutor Jeanine Pirro, Kim Lankford, and confidantes of Durst’s first wife Kathleen McCormack and friend Susan Berman.

Excerpts from “Robert Durst: The Lost Years” follow. If used, mandatory credit NBC’s Dateline with air date of Friday, June 19.
