NEW YORK – September 5, 2014 – NBC’s TODAY continues to gain momentum and post significant ratings growth. For the week of August 25, TODAY posted its biggest A25-54 audience in three months (since the week of 6/2/14). Versus the same week last year, TODAY cut GMA’s total viewer lead by a whopping 33%. TODAY also posted growth in total viewers and A18-49 week-to-week.
Season-to-date, TODAY is posting the largest total viewer growth of the morning news shows gaining nearly 300k. TODAY ranks as the #1 morning news broadcast in A18-49 for the season.
TODAY HIGHLIGHTS:
- TODAY averaged 4.446 million total viewers, beating CBS This Morning by +56% (+1,592,000)
- This was TODAY’s best P2+ delivery and widest gap versus CBS since the week of 6/9/2014
- TODAY averaged 1.705 million A25-54 viewers, +93% (+821,000) ahead of CBS
- This represents TODAY’s biggest A25-54 viewer audience since the week of 6/2/2014 and biggest win over CBS since the week of 6/9/2014
- TODAY delivered a 1.4 A25-54 rating, doubling CBS’s delivery (+100%, or +7 tenths)
- Among A18-49 viewers, TODAY was the #1 broadcast posting 1.384 million and topping GMA by +3% (+45,000) and CBS by +137% (+801,000)
- Compared to the same week last season, TODAY cut GMA’s total viewer lead by 33%
- Week-to-week, TODAY posted growth in total viewers (+2%, or +87,000), rating W/A18-49 (+8%/+10%), and rating M25-54 (+11%)
- Versus the 3Q’14 average, TODAY posted the biggest growth in total viewers (+6%, or +245,000) while also increasing in rating W/A18-49 (8%/+10%) and rating W/M/A25-54 (+6%/+11%/+8%)
- TODAY reduced GMA’s total viewer lead by 10% versus 3Q levels
- Season-to-date, TODAY is posting the largest total viewer growth among the morning news broadcasts (+6%, or +276,000)
- TODAY has also seen season-to-date gains in rating W/A18-49 (+7%/+9%), and rating W/M25-54 (+5%/+10%). Among A25-54 viewers, TODAY is up +5% (+96,000) year-over-year.
- Compared to last season, TODAY has widened its advantages over CBS by 1% in total viewers and 14% among A25-54 viewers
- TODAY continues to rank as the #1 morning news program season-to-date in all 18-49 demo ratings
