NEW YORK – September 5, 2014 – Joe Scarborough will join NBC News as Senior Political Analyst and a regular contributor to “Meet the Press,” it was announced today. In this new role, Scarborough will also join NBC News’ election coverage team and offer political analysis on other NBC News programs, including the TODAY Show.
Scarborough will continue to serve as host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” which features interviews with top newsmakers and smart, in-depth analysis of the day’s biggest stories.
Scarborough’s appointment as a regular roundtable contributor is one of the many changes for the next generation of “Meet the Press.” NBC News recently named Chuck Todd as moderator and managing editor of the program, in addition to his duties as the network’s political director. John Reiss will serve as acting Executive Producer.
“Joe has one of the best political minds in the NBC family,” said Todd. “His love of politics and passion for debate will guarantee the kind of robust conversation that has always been a hallmark of Meet the Press, and I look forward to the reported analysis he’ll bring to the table.”
Prior to “Morning Joe,” Scarborough hosted his own primetime news show on MSNBC, “Scarborough Country.” He has written several books, including the New York Times bestseller,The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America’s Promise, which encourages conservatives to reclaim their heritage by drawing upon the movement’s rich history.
Scarborough served as a member of Congress from 1994 to 2001. While in office, he was a member of the House Judiciary, Armed Services, Oversight and National Security committees.
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Scarborough graduated from the University of Alabama, and received his law degree from the University of Florida.
