THE NBC NEWS STUDIOS PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS THE BIGGEST MOMENTS THAT SHAPED FOUR GENERATIONS: BABY BOOMERS, GENERATION X, MILLENNIALS, AND GEN Z

(NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 27, 2024) – MSNBC Films will air the four-part documentary series My Generation on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET.

Each two-hour episode presents a nostalgic and insightful take on one of the four generations to which the majority of Americans belong: Baby Boomers (born1946 to 1964), Generation X (born 1965 to 1981), Millennials (born 1981 to 1996) and Gen Z (born after 1997). Combining archival footage and original interviews, the series documents the seminal events in politics, media, and culture that shaped each generation.

My Generation, an NBC News Studios production, features high-profile narrators: Forest Whitaker, Ethan Hawke, Kristen Bell, and Jenna Ortega who walk viewers through the history of each generation while featuring new original interviews from those who lived through their generation’s biggest moments first-hand.

Forest Whitaker, narrates the premiere episode centered on the Baby Boomer generation, shining a light on those who grew up in the shadow of the Cuban Missile Crisis, assassinations of JFK, Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy, and more.

Part two, airing on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET, is narrated by Ethan Hawke, focuses on the music, art, pop culture, tragedies and triumphs of Generation X: America’s smallest, middle-child generation – told through the personal experiences of Tony Hawk, Alyssa Milano, Richard Linklater, and others.

Narrated by Kristen Bell, the third part in the My Generation series, airing on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 9 p.m. ET, takes a look at how Millennials were branded as the entitled and coddled generation while being the last generation to experience life before the Internet, with interviews by LeAnn Rimes, Jimmy O. Yang, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Hayley Williams and many more.

The final part of the My Generation series, narrated by Jenna Ortega, tells the story of Gen Z, a generation whose story is still unfolding today both online and off with powerful interviews from David Hogg and notable Gen Z activists, Olivia Juliana, Deja Foxx, and more. Part four of My Generation airs on MSNBC Saturday, Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET.
