Sept. 26, 2024 – MSNBC will deliver full coverage and analysis of the first vice presidential debate of the 2024 race between Sen. JD Vance and Gov. Tim Walz hosted by CBS News on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in New York City. 

  • At 7 p.m. ET, Rachel Maddow will lead MSNBC’s special pre-debate coverage and will be joined by Nicolle WallaceJoy ReidAri MelberChris HayesLawrence O’DonnellStephanie Ruhle, and Jen Psaki
  • Alex Wagner will join live coverage from the spin-room at the debate.
  • At 9 p.m. ET, MSNBC will air the vice presidential debate hosted by CBS News. 
  • Following the debate, Maddow will continue MSNBC’s special coverage, joined by Nicolle Wallace, Joy Reid, Ari Melber, Chris Hayes, Lawrence O’Donnell, Stephanie Ruhle, and Jen Psaki, with Alex Wagner reporting from the spin-room.
  • The Weekend co-hosts, Michael SteeleSymone Sanders-TownsendAlicia Menendez will pick up special coverage from 12 a.m. midnight until 2 a.m. ET, joined by special guests throughout.
  • On the morning of the vice presidential debate, Morning Joe will kick off MSNBC’s special coverage with in-depth reporting and analysis from top political reporters and newsmakers previewing the debate. The next morning, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, Morning Joe will feature special post-debate coverage with reaction and analysis from top political reporters and newsmakers.
  • Beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 1, MSNBC Reports will provide live coverage throughout the day, featuring Ana CabreraJosé Díaz-BalartAndrea MitchellChris Jansing and Katy Tur.
  • NBC News chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander, senior White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell, senior Capitol Hill correspondent Garrett Haake and correspondent Dasha Burns will report on the debate in New York City throughout the day and contribute to special coverage across MSNBC, NBC and NBC News NOW. 
  • MSNBC.com and the MSNBC app will stream the debate and provide a live blog offering real-time analysis, featuring insights and contributions from MSNBC hosts, contributors and experts.
  • The debate will stream live on MSNBC’s YouTube channel and MSNBC on TikTok.
  • Across the NBCU News Group, the debate will also air on NBC and stream on NBC News NOW and Noticias Telemundo Ahora.
