MSNBC’s ‘The Weekend’ to Premiere Saturday, January 13

MSNBC Anchors Alicia Menendez, Symone Sanders-Townsend and Michael Steele Lead Weekend Ensemble Program from 8 – 10 A.M. ET

(November 30, 2023) – MSNBC will debut The Weekend, a new ensemble program hosted by MSNBC anchors Alicia Menendez, Symone Sanders-Townsend and Michael Steele on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 – 10 a.m. ET. It will premiere Saturday, Jan. 13 and will be based in Washington, D.C.

The Weekend will provide thoughtful analysis and coverage from three trusted voices familiar to the MSNBC audience. The program will deliver in-depth commentary and thought-provoking conversations on the state of democracy, particularly as the 2024 presidential election kicks off. It will also feature interviews with newsmakers, including reporters, thought leaders and politicians. 

Menendez joined MSNBC in 2019 and most recently anchored MSNBC’s American Voices with Alicia Menendez on Saturdays and Sundays. She is also the author of “The Likeability Trap” and the host of the “Latina to Latina” podcast. 

Sanders-Townsend was most recently the host of SYMONE on MSNBC and Peacock. Prior to joining MSNBC in 2022, she was a Senior Advisor and Chief Spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris from 2020 to 2021. She also served as a senior advisor on the Biden-Harris 2020 presidential campaign. 

Steele has been a MSNBC political analyst since 2011 and is a frequent fill-in host for MSNBC. He is also the host of “The Michael Steele Podcast.” He served as the seventh Lieutenant Governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007 and as Chair of the Republican National Committee from 2009 to 2011.

The Weekend will be executive produced by Kyle Griffin. Griffin first joined MSNBC in 2008 and most recently served as an Executive Producer.
