Media Advisory: CNBC to Livestream Panels with Richmond Fed President and CEO Thomas Barkin and DOGE Co-Lead Vivek Ramaswamy from the CNBC CFO Council Summit on December 4

CNBC

WHERE: CNBC.com

CNBC will livestream two notable panels from its CFO Council Summit on Wednesday, December 4, 2024:

9:10am ET: An overwhelming 68% of respondents to the November CNBC Fed Survey feel the U.S. economy has already achieved a soft landing. The remainder still foresee the chance of an economic recession in the next twelve months, though this is the lowest probability in the survey since early 2022. But even if the landing is soft, the Federal Reserve is, by nature, guaranteed to face other challenges, including the future of its independence, and whether a Republican-controlled government will cause inflation to rise again. With all the unknowns, it might just be easier to keep the plane in the air.

Panelist: Thomas Barkin, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond President and CEO

Interviewer: Steve Liesman, CNBC Senior Economics Reporter

3:45pm ET: Vivek Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur, a former presidential candidate – he briefly competed for the Republican nomination this year before endorsing Donald Trump – and now he’s about to join Elon Musk as the co-leader of a new Department of Government Efficiency. The “DOGE” has promised to dramatically reduce the size of the Federal government and cut $500 billion in government spending, all by America’s 250th birthday, July 4, 2026. Can the DOGE do it? Ramaswamy lays out DOGE’s plan and will provide other insights about what to expect in the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s second term.

Panelist: Vivek Ramaswamy, DOGE Co-Lead, Author, and Former U.S. Presidential Candidate

Interviewer: Eamon Javers, CNBC Senior Washington Correspondent

Transcripts will follow the livestream panels.

The United States has a newly elected president for 2025 who vows to change the way things have been done. How exactly that will play and what impact it will have on corporate America and the economy, we have yet to find out. The Fed has begun to lower interest rates. But we don’t know how much lower they’ll go. Many parts of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act are set to expire at the end of next year. But we don’t know which parts will be renewed, and which will be allowed to expire. At the invitation-only CNBC CFO Council Summit, panelists will discuss the unknowns, assess their potential impact on business and the economy, and strategize about the interest rate environment, and the tax and trade policy landscape in 2025.
