CNBC’S “CITIES OF SUCCESS” TRAVELS TO SALT LAKE CITY FOR FRANCHISE’S THIRD STOP

CNBC takes “Cities of Success” out west again to Salt Lake City where an influx of business, capital and talent has sparked a 21st century success story

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., November 20, 2024 – For the third installment of the “Cities of Success” franchise, CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, travels to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains for “Cities of Success: Salt Lake City,” the cross-platform program that uncovers how key cities have rebuilt themselves as centers of business and industry. After a pivotal moment hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics, Salt Lake City rapidly emerged as a competitive economic powerhouse with one of the hottest job markets in America, and the Olympics’ impact on its transformation set the stage for expansion in other areas from its fast-growing tech hub, “Silicon Slopes,” to the booming banking and video gaming industries, real estate development, and investment in major league sports.

On Tuesday, December 10 at 10PM ET/PT, CNBC will air a one-hour primetime special, “Cities of Success: Salt Lake City,” that examines the influence of money, power and faith on the city’s unprecedented rise while also addressing potential hurdles including the threat climate change poses to one of the city’s greatest natural resources and the unique challenges that face female and minority entrepreneurs. Anchored by CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla, the program features CNBC’s expert roster of reporters and exclusive in-depth interviews with top leaders in government and business steering the region’s growth including Smith Entertainment Group Co-Founders Ryan and Ashley Smith, Former Utah Governor Michael Leavitt, Adobe SVP & Deputy General Counsel Wade Sherman, Larry Miller Company CEO Steve Starks, Goldman Sachs President and Chief Operating Officer John Waldron, Vivint Founder & Former CEO Todd Pedersen, Maven Co-Founders Tessa Arneson and Rocky Donati, Entrata COO & Chief Product Officer Catherine Wong, and more.

Tied to the “Cities of Success: Salt Lake City” special, CNBC will also partner with Junior Achievement of Utah, a nonprofit that inspires and prepares young people for success, to engage the community and educate students about personal finance. On Wednesday, December 11, Senior Personal Finance Correspondent Sharon Epperson will moderate a live panel with notable Utah entrepreneurs and host “It’s My Business! Competition,” providing students with an opportunity to learn how to turn an idea into a business. The entrepreneurs will help coach the students’ business pitches and other local business leaders, along with an Olympic Gold Medalist from Salt Lake City, will judge the competition. This community engagement with students is part of CNBC’s financial education initiative, CNBC Your Money, dedicated to helping people manage, grow and protect their money so they can live ambitiously.
